HRH Prince of Wales Rainforest ProjectHRH Prince of Wales is a long time activist on many subjects, but one in particular is proving more urgent than the UK skyline! The Prince's Rainforests Project (PRP) was set up in 2007 by HRH Prince of Wales, following reports from leading climate change experts, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, to promote awareness of the urgent need to take action against tropical deforestation. The Prince of Wales has long been concerned about climate change and about how destruction of the world's rainforests contributes to rising temperatures and sea levels. MRL are working with the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria to assist them in educating the nation on various environmental projects including deforestation. Nigeria's rainforest is endowed with a variety of plants and animals that if lost will never be seen again. HRH Prince Charles is as passionate about the Nigerian rainforest as he is about others. A meeting was held at Clarence House where MRL Executive Director, Roni Ajao was in attendance as the Special Technical Advisor to The Honourable Minister of Environment, Mr. John Odey. |
