Environmental Policy

Scope

This Policy applies to all premises and activities within the control of the company -MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd (MRL®).

MRL® will endeavor to develop, implement, and continuously review its Environmental Policy and Management System, ensuring consistency with local and international operating conditions and legislation as applicable.

This policy reflects MRL®‘s intention to provide and maintain an environmentally sustainable management system. Although the standards established by national legislation will apply as a minimum, MRL ® will always strive to achieve best practice in the local and international context of every city and/or country in which we operate.

Objectives

The objectives of our policy are as follows

• To achieve environmental excellence in all our business operations and consultancy assignments.

• To comply with legal obligations under the current Health, Safety and Welfare Act 1992 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990, together with other applicable statutory provisions and relevant codes of practice.

• To minimise the social impact of the company’s activities and avoid damage to the environment through regular reviews of the business from environmental and management systems audits.

• To reduce wastage to a minimum and to recycle materials to the maximum.

• To promote environmental awareness throughout the company and encourage environmentally friendly working practices such as regular recycling of paper, minimising the use of paper, achieving goals including a paperless office environment by 2021.

• To liaise with suppliers and customers to facilitate the best possible environmental practices in providing MRL ® with goods and services and promote the recycling of materials to sustain and protect the environment.

• To maintain an environmentally safe and healthy workplace for employees, associates, consultants, interns, volunteers, and other representatives with adequate facilities appropriate to our business activities.

• To undertake environmental impact assessment studies as part of any company expansion plans.

• To support the local community in its environmental initiatives, and on assignments as applicable.

• To discuss and ensure buy-in of environmental issues and the proper management and implementation of our Environment Policy at the highest levels of the company.

• To train and regularly consult employees on good environmental practices, policies and procedures.

Commitment

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Limited (MRL®) is committed to achieving the highest standards of environmental performance and recognises its corporate and social responsibility to the environment. MRL® have signed up to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), in support of and signifying commitment to helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’S).

MRL® acknowledges that its operations have a direct and indirect environmental impact and aims to minimise that impact and operate in an environmentally responsible manner. MRL® will control and manage its activities to ensure that risks to the welfare of its employees, clients, and the public are identified and that in all such circumstances action is taken to minimise or eliminate their effects.

Statement of Principle

MRL® will, so far as reasonably practicable: –

• Establish sound environmental management policies and promote best practice within the company.

• Manage its operations in ways that are environmentally sustainable and economically feasible, by making efficient and environmentally responsible use of energy and other natural resources where applicable in exploiting opportunities to maximise efficiency.

• Ensure environmental risks are properly identified, prioritised and managed in an appropriate and timely way.

• Develop an HR Policy to raise and maintain awareness amongst staff and promote individual good practice while encouraging team participation relating to environmental matters.

• Minimise environmental impact and reduce or, where practicable, prevent pollution.

• Minimise waste production by reducing consumption of office materials and develop effective waste management and recycling procedures.

• Collaborate with key suppliers to promote and ensure environmentally responsible procurement of MRL® goods and services when supplying or providing a service to .

• Actively monitor results and audit policies and practices to ensure MRL® meets its policy goals.

• Recognise the legitimate interest that all its stakeholders, including clients, customers, shareholders, and employees have in its environmental performance and communicate openly within MRL® and to the outside community.

Policy

It is the duty of all staff, associates, consultants, interns, and other representatives to conform to this environmental policy.

ENVIROMENTAL POLICIES

Responsibilities

• MRL and its staff, associates, interns, volunteers, consultants, third party suppliers have a responsibility to protect the environment.

• The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the Environmental Policy is disseminated.

• The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the procedures attached to this policy are followed.

Training and Awareness

• All Staff and other representatives, as applicable, will receive suitable training to enable them to deal with their specific areas of environmental control.

• All staff and other representatives, as applicable, will have access to information in a format that is relevant to them on how individuals can make positive environmental changes to help MRL ® meet its objectives.

• All staff and other representatives as applicable, visitors and contractors should be reminded to adhere to any warnings or signs in relation to hazards.

Inclusion

• MRL® will encourage suggestions to improve the environment where they are possible and engage staff in taking these forwards.

• Where MRL ® has environmental objectives, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors will be consulted and included in their implementation.

Working Efficiently and Minimising Waste

• MRL® will ensure that all staff have access to the policies wherever possible.

• Appropriate recycling bins will be available for recycling where possible within the waste management process. Members of staff must ensure health and safety is adhered to in the first instance for the safe disposal of waste.

• MRL® will promote responsible purchasing, ensuring requests and purchases are carefully planned and match needs.

• All staff should ensure taps are not left running, and electrical equipment and lights are turned off where they are not in use without compromising the safety of individuals.

Reducing Pollution

• MRL® will ensure environmentally friendly and sustainable resources are purchased wherever possible, whilst maintaining standards of cleanliness and other health and safety requirements.

• Where MRL ® purchases/leases vehicles, these will be used only when necessary.

• Where vehicles are no longer fit for operational use, more environmentally efficient models should be scoped for purchase where financially viable.

• All medical and chemical products will be used and disposed of in accordance with all relevant legal requirements, codes of practice and regulations.

Assessing and Monitoring

• MRL® is responsible for the physical environment of the organisation and will identify and manage environmental risks and hazards.

• Targets to measure the continuous improvement of reviewed and changes made accordingly. MRL environmental performance will be regularly

Speaking Out

• All stakeholders are encouraged to speak out where they see environmental hazards or have concerns.

• Staff can raise concerns to management and any hazard should be reported immediately to their line manager.

• Clients may make a complaint and report to a staff member.
