Our History

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Limited (MRL®) was founded in 2002 with the aim to deliver tailored consultancy services and provide targeted solutions to organisations in the public and defence sectors. For the past two decade, MRL® has remained committed to providing a unique blend of expertise to fit the demands of local and international clients across different spheres in the public and defense sector. This reiterates the company’s resolve to provide tailored services to clients according to their requirements in the best possible way and by the highest of standards.

2002, SEPTEMBER

Founded

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd (MRL®) was founded to provide tailored consultancy services to organisations in the public and defence sectors. 

2002, OCTOBER

Commenced Operations

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd commenced operations coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence Day.

2005, APRIL

First Office

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd moves to its first office, 1 Burr Elm Court,  Main Street,  Caldecote, Cambridge CB3 7NU.

2005, MAY

Department for Transport's Flagship Programme

MRL® Sector Consultants Ltd works on the Department for Transport’s flagship Programme – The UK Government / Department for Transport (DfT) —the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTPO), one of the UK government’s central policies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from road transport.

2005, DECEMBER

Recognised Practice

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd becomes a Recognised Practice of the Institute of Consulting.

2006, NOVEMBER

Pepple House

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd acquired its first office, Pepple House, in Cambourne, Cambridge. The building is named in memory of the Founder’s mother, whose experience with substandard public sector health management underscored the need for urgent and systemic improvements. This led to the company’s focus and enduring commitment to improve the performance of public sector organisations.

2007 April

Data Control

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd is registered as a data controller and processor with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

2009 , November

Abuja House

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd. Purchased its second building, Abuja House, in Cambourne, Cambridge. Abuja House is named after the capital city of Nigeria, reflecting the founders’ African heritage.  

2008, OCTOBER

First International Assignment

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd works on its first international assignment. This is in Nigeria for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) on the Public Sector Reforms Programme, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

2009, JULY

First Education Service

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd undertakes its first education services under MRL®-Edu.

2010, AUGUST

Registered with the Copyright Service

MRL® Public Sector Consultants was registered with the Copyright Service.

2010, dECEMBER

COP 16

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd. undertakes a key role in the UK Census for 2011, managing the entire communications, publicity, and stakeholder management activities.

2011, October

10th Anniversary

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

2012, April

Project with the Ministry of Defence UK

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd selected as a niche UK company to provide specialised technical consultancy support to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other UK government departments under the Framework Agreement for Technical Support.

2013, may

MRL® becomes a Registered Trademark

MRL® Public Sector Consultants becomes a registered trademark with the Intellectual Property Office UK.

2015, November

Transforming Education in Niger State (TENS) Programme

Transforming Education in Niger State (TENS) Programme, Niger State, Federal Republic of Nigeria, was undertaken

2017, November

Corporate Affiliation

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd becomes a Corporate Affiliate of the Association for Project Management (APM).  

2018, SEPtember

Member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd becomes a member and participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

2019, July

MRL®-Edu Online Educational Programmes

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd launces its MRL®-Edu online educational programmes.

2021, october

MRL®'s 20th Anniversary

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd celebrates 20 years in business.

2024, May

Transforming Education in Niger State (TENS II) Programme

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd leads on a major Education initiative in Niger State, Federal Republic of Nigeria, as a model for other States in    Nigeria, known as Transforming Education in Niger State (TENS II) Programme.

2024, september

Founded The MRL Foundation

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd founded The MRL® Foundation to support underserved communities in Africa in education, health and economic growth.

2025, october

Change Makers Award 2025

MRL® Public Sector Consultants Ltd wins the Change Makers Award 2025 for Pioneers in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the Transforming Education in Niger State (TENS II) Programme by the Writers and Journalist Foundation in association with the United Nations (UN) Department for Global Communications.
