MRL® POLICY
Sustainability Policy
Scope
Sustainability is most often defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda are integral to MRL ® Public Sector Consultants Ltd (MRL®) professional activities and the management of the organisation.
Although the standards established by national legislation will apply as a minimum, MRL® will always strive to achieve best practice in the local context of every city and/or country in which we operate.
Objectives
The objectives of our policy are as follows
• To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
• To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions.
• To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
• To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices.
• To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.
Commitment
MRL® is committed to follow and to promote good sustainability practice and recognises its corporate and social responsibility to the environment. MRL® has signed up to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), in support of and signifying commitment to helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
MRL® will control and manage its activities to ensure that risks to the welfare of its employees, associates, volunteers, interns, other representatives, clients, and the public are identified and that in all such circumstances action is taken to minimise or eliminate their effects.
Policy
It is important to us to emphasis the social, economic, and environmental impact of our business in everything we do, and this policy reflects our commitment to ensuring that sustainability is considered through all our business decisions; across the following 3 pillars we aim to: –
PILLARS
Environment (Planet)
• Reduce to the extent practicable the quantity of the waste we generate from our operations and handle it in a safe, legal and responsible way to minimise their environmental effects.
• Work with others in our supply chain to help assure adverse environmental impacts and risks associated with our products and services are reduced and properly controlled and environmental benefits optimised.
• Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example, by double-siding all paper used, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste.
• As far as possible, arrange for the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment.
• Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment and good housekeeping.
Social (People)
• Offer career development, supporting our teams to be diverse, engaged, motivated and competent – together working towards the sustainable success of our business.
• Engage positively with civic projects and the local communities locally and internationally, in which we work, both through specific project engagement and through company-wide initiatives.
• Treat our staff and other representatives, i.e., associates, volunteers, interns, etc., in a respectful, fair, non-exploitative way, especially with regard to compensation and benefits; promotion, training; open, constructive dialogue with management; involvement in decision making; working conditions that are safe, healthy, and non-coercive; rights of association, collective bargaining, and privacy; employment termination practices; and work-life balance.
• Promote diversity and use hiring practices that are fair, responsible, non-discriminatory, and non- exploitative for our employees, board members and suppliers.
• Be honest and fair with our customers, competing fairly for their business, respecting their privacy, and providing them safe and effective products and services under the conditions we promise.
Economic (Profits)
• Deliver sustainable profitable growth while satisfying our ethical, legal and contractual obligations.
